The Weatherman was right for once -- SNOW!

What do you know? The weatherman was right!? It DID actually snow this weekend, and it was a little over the predicted 7 inches. When we woke up Saturday morning to RAIN, and not a blanket of white, I was beginning to wonder what all the fuss was about the past two days. Predictions of a big storm, people jam packed in the grocery stores fighting over the last milk carton or bread, events getting cancelled, etc. Bill was kicking himself for postponing the men's breakfast Saturday morning. The good news was that since it wasn't snowing, we could go to the Train Show as planned. It is amazing that the weathermen can have wrong predictions about the weather, seemingly MOST of the time, and yet keep their jobs. Oh, for that kind of job security.

During the afternoon, the rain did turn to snow and it was coming down fairly fast. It was supposed to continue through the night to 6 a.m. in our area. The evening plans we had were cancelled; I had wanted to take the family to the play, The Importance of Being Earnest, but in view of the snow actually building up, they decided to postpone. On the way home from the Train Show, we ate dinner out, and then stopped by Blockbuster to pick up a movie to watch.

We have been disappointed since moving to Manassas that we cannot find a decent chinese restaurant. When Bill went to dinner last week as part of his elder duties, he went to a chinese restaurant where we used to go when we lived in Centreville, and remarked how he had forgotten how good it was. That is where we went to eat this night. It's almost a good enough reason to move back to Centreville....almost! If I didn't LOATHE moving so much, I might consider it!

I will post about the train show separately, but wanted to show you some pictures of the white stuff that the kids played in today. Bill went out to help shovel and supervise them clearing the driveway, and afterwards the kids were building a snow fort. OF COURSE, they HAD to have hot chocolate when they were all done.
