When it Rains, It Pours!

Unfortunately, this post is not about Morton Salt and their slogan. No, this is about a literal pouring of rain last night, and it's also supposed to do it again tonight and this weekend. In fact, they are calling for 2-4 inches of rain!

After the film festival last night, we came home through a lightning show that was a bit frightening. God was showing off his fireworks a little bit early this year! By the time we got home, it was pouring rain.

I thought we had better check on our basement since the stairwell in the back yard has been known to clog up in the past and it had been awhile since we cleaned out the well of leaves, etc. Sure enough, Bill found the stairwell full of water, and leaking into the basement. Not only that, but the air conditioner seemed to have a leak, too, and the sump pump wasn't coming on. But that is not all!

I went upstairs to get ready for bed and saw a little bubble forming in the ceiling of our bedroom, right above the bed...and it was leaking onto the bed! We literally had a waterbed last night! Thankfully, once the rain stopped, so did the leak, and it was at the very bottom of the bed, so we donned our bathing suits and used it anyway. ;o)

We're not quite sure what God is trying to tell us with all the repairs that have been needed in the short time since Bill has been out of work: two cars needing repairs, the garage door needed new springs, the roof (apparently the whole roof needs work, not just the part above the garage (and our bedroom). Tomorrow we will find out the problem with the air conditioner. On top of all those, we still have our health insurance payment each month.

We have had trying times before, and God blessed us through those, so we are confident that He will bring us through this trial, too. We will have a chance to see together how God will keep His promises and use this for His glory. Pray with us and watch for miracles!
