Clay Day

Nathan has a very part-time job at a local store that sells items made out of clay, and offers lessons in working with clay. Providentially, he was asked if he would like to apply for this job of about 5 hours a week just after he had signed up to go on a missions trip this summer, and needed to earn some money to help fund part of the trip! Isn't God good?

So he has been faithfully working there and they have been pleased with his services. It's not a glamorous job..he does sweeping and mopping and is their "muscle" for moving the 20 pound blocks of clay, but his bosses are great and he enjoys it, and it has allowed him to open his own checking account and has started to tithe and save. Since it's only a few hours a week, we were able to squeeze that into our already overcrowded schedule without too much difficulty. It would be nice if Nathan were able to drive himself there, but we're still working on getting him driving lessons and it is only about an 8 minute drive, so it doesn't disrupt the day too much.

Saturday, the store he works for had a special free event for children called Clay Day. Nathan was working at the event and was able to help his own siblings make some items out of clay. The store owners will be firing them and the children will be able to bring them home later. Since Saturday was also a ballet performance day for Katelyn (more on that in another post) AND also the baby shower for my sister (in yet another post), Bill took the kids and used his new camera to take these pictures.
