We are planning to return to the Virginia Scottish Games this year. We used to go at least every other year...I always seemed to be GREAT with child in the middle of HOT July during it. We love it...it's a lot of fun, and our favorite Scottish singer will be there again at the Pub Tent....Alex Beaton. Bill has been playing his albums to get us in the mood. :o) They usually have Children's Games that mimic the adult games, like discus throwing (they use a frisbee that they get to take home), caber tossing (made of a cardboard tube), shot put (with a brick), bale tossing and foot races. They give out ribbons to the winners and all those who participate.
Of course, Bill's favorite tent is the "Tasting of the Corn" tent....where they used to give free samples of single malt scotch. LOL We always try to visit and catch up with the folks from our MacFarlane Clan. Each clan has their own tent set up and we can usually find a little shelter from the sun and refreshment, as well as good company.
I had always hoped Katelyn could take Highland Dancing lessons, but so far that has not been possible. We like to watch the competitions, especially when they dance over the swords. It's very beautiful to see everyone in their tartans. Some other typical activities used to include a sheep herding demonstration and harp and other musical instrument competitions, as well as your fill of haggis and Scottish pasties (and no, that should not be pastries..the Scottish are not know for their appetizing cuisine, LOL! Scottish pasties are meat pies).

AJ has a tie made of MacFarlane Tartan but it is not the hunting one. It's this one. http://www.scotsconnection.com/uploads/html/MacFarlane_Tartan_571_1.htm
I like the hunting one better! The signature tag you made is AWESOME btw. :)
